My interest in guitars began as a teenager playing in bands in New Zealand when ‘vintage’ was ‘second-hand’.
I learned everything I could by reading about guitars, talking to guitarists, and hanging around guitar shops. Eventually, I began building primitive guitars from wood scraps and broken parts in Dad’s garage. As soon as I left school and found a job I bought my first electric and then the next and the next…
After travelling overseas for a year, I returned to New Zealand and studied Graphic Design and started New Zealand's first punk band, The Scavengers. From there my guitar collection grew along with my knowledge of guitars and in the 90s I established Guitar Yard.
Since 2013 Guitar Yard has been based in London. We have a small inventory of rare vintage and second-hand instruments, and rare advertising material.
Guitar-Yard repairs, modifies and designs to your personal specifications.
